About
A tutor who listens, made at scale.
Kitebook is a training studio. We build short, narrated, branching lessons for schools, companies and partners.
The studio story
A good tutor doesn't just mark your answer wrong. They hear what you were thinking, and answer that. Most training can't, because it is built as a line: the same slides for everyone.
Kitebook builds training as a map instead. Each lesson has a main path, and a wrong answer opens a short path aimed at the idea behind it, then rejoins the main path.
We started with SkyGems Academy, our first partner, whose programmes inspired our first lessons. Kitebook is its own studio, and each training we build is its own product, with its own name, look and web address: Echo, Tangent and SkyGems Life Skills so far.
The name comes from the kite on our mark, red and gold with a gem tail. On the old home page the kite string became a lesson's branch map.

- The learner
Every lesson is a map: a wrong answer takes a short path of its own, then rejoins.
The Diamond Age
Named after a book that teaches back.
Our principles are named for the Primer, the interactive book in Neal Stephenson's The Diamond Age, which watches a child and teaches the lesson she needs next. We are not there. We are building toward it. Read the Primer principles →
